Lungi International Airport

Lungi International Airport (IATA: FNA) sits on the north bank of the Sierra Leone River Estuary, directly across from Freetown. It is the country's only international airport, handling all scheduled international flights. Arriving travellers transfer to Freetown by hovercraft, helicopter, or the public ferry — a 15-minute crossing that offers your first views of the capital skyline and the Atlantic coastline of the Freetown peninsula. The crossing is itself an introduction to Sierra Leone: vendors, music, the smell of salt air, and the sense of a country that moves at its own pace.
