Journey North
Kabala
Koinadugu District — Northern Province
Mountain town in the Northern Province — scenic highland landscapes and a cultural welcome at elevation.

Kabala is the administrative capital of Koinadugu District, nestled in the mountains of Sierra Leone's Northern Province at approximately 500 metres above sea level. The Wara Wara Mountains and the Bintumani range (home to West Africa's highest peak outside of Cameroon) form a dramatic backdrop.
The town is predominantly Limba and Kuranko, with a strong tradition of chieftaincy culture, storytelling, and traditional music. The drive north from Kent to Kabala on Day 5 takes approximately 5-6 hours through changing landscapes — from coastal peninsula to rolling savannah to mountain foothills. A cultural welcome in Kabala town marks the evening.
